...an important theme seems to be growing up. After delivering the baby by means of an operation they discover that the Indian woman’s husband, who is present during the birth, has killed himself. Because of the fact that one person is born and another one is dying during the operation the text deals with life and death. Therefore the circle of life seems to be another theme in the text. Besides, the story is a frame tale. Seeing that it begins in the boat when they have sailed to the Indian camp, and it ends when they are sailing to return to their own camp...
