Billy Woodward, our main character, is a young man who is split in two. A part of him wishes to run away from a life filled with prejudice from the white man’s world, a life of poverty, drinking and filth. Another part of him wants to be a part of his family and culture; he wants to face what he has rejected for several years.
Billy’s relationship to his family disappeared the day he left for college and did not return. Before that, he remembered how his last night at the camp went. He remembers his brother Carlton, cousin Rennie and him sitting by the river drinking beers and having a blast with their girls...
