In this essay I will start out by describing the two characters Macbeth and Lady Macbeth concerning act II scene 2 and act III scene 2 with focus on their development. Thereafter will I make an analysis and comparison of the two characters with involving the handed out material about Macbeth.
Macbeth starts out in act II scene 2 as a sensitive man: “But wherefore could not, I pronounce ‘Amen’?” l.34. He is helpless and he realizes there is no way of turning back. He feels guilt and very remorseful: “I am afraid to think what I have done. “ l. 52. In this act Macbeth appears as weak and non-influential. He almost regrets his action, which shows Lady Macbeth’s dominative effect on him. She is very determined and gives Macbeth instructions of how to be: “These deeds must not be thought after these ways; so, it will make us made.” L. 33-34. Lady Macbeth has in the beginning of this act been drinking, which had given her courage to drug the servants. This shows that besides her deed she is only a human and does not have courage without alcohol in her blood.
